PSC 1350
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I installed my PSC 1350 (year 2004 model) on my Windows 10 Dell PC, the HP Director will not function.  I can't check my ink levels without it, not even within the print preferences.  Help.

Hi @tooner3,

Thanks for stopping by the HP forums. A very good day to you. I reviewed the post about the printer which has HP director missing after installing it on your Windows 10 computer. It will be a delight to assist you with this. 🙂

Brilliant description, superb troubleshooting and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did you try installing the printer software from the original CD by any chance?

You are not able to check ink levels because HP director is missing. This is because this an old printer and was manufactured long before windows 10 was released. The latest drivers for Windows 10 is not available on the HP support site as the printer has been retired now and not manufactured anymore.

I would request you to use the windows built in drivers only from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879 Please note that this is not the full feature software driver for this printer and is only a basic driver. So you could use the printer to print but may not be able to check ink levels or us HP director.

Please use the most relevant and appropriate option from this link. There is a video associated with it also.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.  🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

I did reinstall from the original CD  to no avail. However, I did download HP print & scan doctor 5.0.

From there I was able to see ink levels. Thanks for your help.

Hi @tooner3,

I read your quick response. Thanks for the response. Superb effort, spectacular troubleshooting and stupendous diagnosis to correct the issue. 🙂  I am really glad that you were able to see the ink levels after running Print scan doctor utility on the PC.

If your computer prints fine, then for scanning you could use HP scan and capture for windows 10 by downloading it from this link:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675206 This should do the trick for you regarding scanning.

Trust me I've done all I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. You've been simply marvelous to work with and it has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you.:) Thanks again for your wonderful time and for doing business with HP. 🙂

I genuinely hope the unit works great and stays healthy for a long time. 🙂
