Laser printer HP 1010 (serial number CNFD070022) having an usb connection, worked well under windows 7.

Microsoft does not support it under windows 10.

Installing the driver from the HP website does install the software, but the printer remains a device.

One of the usb ports now has the label HP 1010, but the printer does not show up as a printer in printer/devices overview, it remains a device.

The same result happens when using the installation wizard, or the doctor software.

I tried all solutions recommended on the website and forum: removing driver software; reverting windows to an earlier restoration point; first installing then connecting.

Any suggestions?

I solved the problem!

Donloading the hp1010 (64-bi)t driver for vista, installing, and switching on the printer.

I tried other drivers before, this one did the trick.

Alternatively you can also extract the driver from the steps given below...

  • Visit HP Support and get the Windows 7 drivers for the hardware you'd like to try.
  • Download the driver to your desktop.
  • Allow the extraction to complete but close the installation process when it comes up.
  • Navigate to the C:\swsetup\ folder.  You will see your driver listed here.  They usually have a name like "sp58919".  Navigate to this folder.
  • Within your driver's folder you will see a "setup.exe" file.  Right click this file and select Properties.
  • Navigate to the "Compatibility" tab.
  • Click the box that says "Run this program in Compatibility mode for..." and also select Windows 7 from the drop down menu.
  • Check the box which says "Run this program as administrator" at the bottom.
  • Save these changes and double-click the "setup.exe" to begin the install.
  • Once the install completes reboot your PC and verify the functionality of the piece of hardware

Hello,

I understand you are not able ot isntall the printer on  your windows 10 computer and it worked with windows 7 and you have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

I would like you to restart your computer and try windows update .

If that fails try to add printer from devices and printers type devices and printers in the search box and follow the steps from the link below.

There is a Windows Update driver in the Microsoft Catalog that you can download and try for the LaserJet 1010.  It states it is Win10 compatible.

I tried this all. I always end up with the same solution: remains a device; usb port HP 1010; no printing
