I haven't been using this device for a month or so, no when i try to connect the printer to my laptop using usb cable it doesn't work.
The Printer is recognized as hp laserjet p1015 and yet it's not categorized as printerts so i can't work with it.
I have tried it on windows 10, 8 and 7. I have changed the usb cable i have tried other usb ports that work with other printers.
I also have downloaded the latest driver from the website but it's not detectable by the hp software. here is the screenshot :
What can i Do no? is there a method for fixing this problem?
will a firmware update fix it?

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Printer. I understand that you are unable to connect your printer to your laptop, and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.
Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,
- Manually connect the printer to your network.
- Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Temporarily disable firewall software on the computer.
- Uninstall and reinstall the HP driver and software.

thanks alot for the answer, but I don't want to use it in a network, why can't I just use it with a usb cable?
still connected via usb i reinstalled the driver, installed hp print and scan doctor but still nothing.
what is the problem with this printer?
is it a common problem? i tried a p1102 and it worked without any problem,.
i also tried a samsung printer too.
could be a hardware problem inside the printer?
I would really appreciate some help.
