We recently had this issue with HPs M225DW prodcut. It may say "Incorrect Username & Password" but in our situation this wasn't the case at all. Though active directory we played around with user permissions and found that only one of our groups allowed this option (Which is why I was able to do this and other vacilty members could not.) I have yet to find exactly what permission allows for this, but I simply authenticated the user with my acount so that they could email directly from scan to theres. I will post the permission If I run across it.

I have a strange issue. The "scan to email" function works just fine when I load paper into the top portion of the scaner. But if I put a piece of peper into the scanner glass part it will never work. It says it has a server failure 100% of the time. This hasbeen an issue for a year on this printer. No solution has worked. Like I said thoguh, it works if the paper is loaded into the top part. Really frustrating.

Hi @jstein95,

I understand you are having an issue with scan to email using Gmail on your HP OfficeJet 8600 printer. I'll be really glad to help you with this,
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Have you tried to update the firmware for this printer?
What is the product number of this computer? (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
What is the Operating System installed on the PC? Windows or Mac OS
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.
If you’re running Windows, I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE
If there is no change, the issue being caused by either wrong settings or a network connectivity issue.

So I too was having trouble with getting my scan to email to work. I tried everything like resetting to factory settings, retyping my passwords over and over. It turns out that as I was connecting to my gmail account, google had sent me an email that was in my junk folder asking me to authinticate the login from another machine. It was not processing my request due to my security settings. Apparently google has strict login features that do not comply with HP. Take a look into your mail folders from an alert from google if you are having this difficulty and using gmail. I accepted and my settings processed just fine. I am back up and running! Good luck!
