I'm using genuine 3x5 HP photo paper and genuine HP ink cartridges. After approximately 1-year, the photos begin to turn green. What causes this? Thank you.

Hi @jreyn21966,
Thanks for posting your question in the HP Community. Good day. 🙂 It is a terrific place to find answers and tips from experts in the community. I reviewed your post and understand that the photo printed turns out to be green on photo paper. I’ll be delighted to assist you with this. 🙂
You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I have reviewed the situation and it is paramount that we address your issue. Thank you for giving us the privilege to assist you on this platform. An excellent diagnosis was done before posting your query on HP forums. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
First off we need to isolate the issue to being hardware or software related.
Please perform a copy first on the same photo paper without any intervention from the computer.
- Please try to make a few copies directly from the printer without any intervention from the computer. Please place the required document face down on the flatbed scanner and touch the copy button. If it copies fine, then the issue could be software related.
If the copy comes out fine, the issue may be software related.
Then please uninstall the printer software from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02259020
Then reinstall the full feature software from this link and it should do the trick for you. Link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/HP-Photosmart-C7100-All-in-One-Printer-ser...
If it still persists, please run a print quality report from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Photosmart-C7100-All-in-One-Printer-series/1153777/model/1153...
If this does not work, then it is a hardware issue with the printer and it needs to either be serviced or replaced. Please contact Hp phone support by visiting this link: http://hp.com/contacthp and follow the on-screen instructions.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

Copies are just fine. Unfortunately, I won't see the photos turning green after printing for almost a year. I have one photo that was sticking out of a book and noticed it had turned green so when I pulled it out to examine it, only the part that was sticking out was green. The other non-exposed part was fine. Thank you.

Hi @jreyn21966,
I thank you for your quick response. It could be possible that the photo paper could be the culprit. Please try with different photo paper and check. It is also possible that the photo paper is coming in contact with something else and causing a chemical reaction for it to turn green over time Please check if it is getting exposed to something else.
Store the printed photos in a different folder and a different location and check.
