Just bought this HP printer and changed ink cartridges for the first time and ran into this error that everyone else is having. Glad I checked the forums. Now I can return this printer before my return period has lapse. If I am already having issues with a new printer and I see that Hp has not made any effort to resolve this in 3 or so years since this post started, well im not about to invest any more money into a product with known issues that dont get resolved. Whats with all the pm messages? Why cant you post a resolution for everyone to see? Even the pop up message seems sketchy. Cannot be saved and not available once its closed? I fully registered the printer and checked all available updates but nothing fixed it. Ill be taking it back.

@rk_Russellking Hi, if you truly are an employee of HP please tell them that this feature is broken. Everytime you change a cartridge you get the rewards window but it never connects to a website or takes you to a page saying website doesn't exist. It's so exasperating, I'm thinking of switching to non-hp ink just on spite 😛

I have never been able to get to the rewards site. I e-mailed the company. They sent me a link they said would take me to the rewards program. Hah. All it did was take me to their on line sales site. What a joke. I will not buy HP again. They aren't honest and they are not there to help you. As far as I'm concerned the rewards program is a scam.

The problem lies in the origin of the printer. That is, if it is from the Phillipines the rewards link will not work from Australia. After receiving a "private" message from HP through this forum I was able to link but found that the rewards are not worth the bother, e.g. X discount on purchase of low value items, mice, printer cartridges etc. You need to make a future purchase, it is not a reward for ink cartridges already purchased. No additional outlay, no reward.

Well my screen grab of the response email was removed, here is their reason and so i removed the so-called confidential information but couldn't seem to find a serial number..
@Shazzz : I am in the USA so not sure if thats an issue but I completely agree with you that the rewards is nothing more than a way for them to make you purchase more items.

Thanks for sending a working link. I have to agree with the others that it was disappointing to see what the rewards were. I thought it was going to be $ off future ink purchases.
Oh well... thanks again @rk_russelking

when i inserted a new hp cartridge and the rewards box showed, i clicked it and nothing happened. i let HP know and they are looking into it for me. normally, i would say HP is the best; i still do, but let them fix the rewards section.

Well, like others have said, at least now I know what I'm up against. After three years and no satisfactory resolutions to date, it is obvious that HP is not interested in seriously addressing this issue. Thirteen pages and thirty-six months later, the title and original post stand true. This is a scam.
We've had our Photosmart 7520 for almost a year and I've been diligently buying genuime HP cartridges in hopes of one day being able to connect to the Rewards site and perhaps save some cash on these cartridges that run empty all-too soon. No more. While it's nice that these cartridges cost half as much as the ones for our last HP printer, there's no savings when you have to replace them twice as often. Earlier, someone suggested investing in a laser printer. As a doctoral student, I print out a LOT of stuff. From now on, I'm buying generic, and when this printer gives out we'll replace it with a decent laser printer.
