Not so far from reality: we are talking about various Canon models ... that is a solution, so the issue looks solved 🙂

Not so far from reality: we are talking about various Canon models, and they are a good solution, so it looks solved, isn't it? 🙂

Thanks - i followed the instructions you provided and it does scan, but the details give no option for saving the scan anywhere ie the boxes where you can enter the name of the file and the location are absent from the details.  so i can scan it, but not save it. what am i doing wrong?

you should find the copy of the scanned image in Image folder with a name like ScanXXX.jpeg.

At least it's what I found using the printer scanner you find in the System Preference folder.

As for Image Capture that some have suggested, it will work with photos, but the OCR features of my HP Multifunction seem to have been killed off by HP without any remorse, since they were only accessible via HP Scan.

This is how it looks like for me. The language of my scan program is in Dutch.

I hope it works for you as well!!

This is what I get. Appently HP believes that OCR is expendible. It's one of the primary reasons I chose my HP multifunctional printer. The very word multifunctional, implies that it's more than a printer. True, it will scan photos with no problem, but it's less than I got when I paid for this device, and there seems to be NO FIX going on 4 months by HP. I believe such treatment of customers in unacceptable. It's also not acceptable that HP has us all jumping through hoops like trained dogs to search for solutions. The driver update in December does let me save files, but there is still no OCR. My computer is still supported by Apple and my less-than-a-year old multifunctional is still not supported completely by HP!

HP, where's the beef?

Don't hold your breath.  The issue of incompatibility of HP Scan with Mac OS 10.9 was first introduced in October, and is now listed as "SOLVED" on the HP web site.  Not only is this contrary to the truth (I have a 3-letter word for that), but it is clear that nobody at HP is reading this discussion any longer.  They have no intention whatsoever to solve the problem, but do not have to courage to say it directly to the users....so they let us discuss this until we get tired and ignore it.  Problem solved!

I posted on this forum back on page 20.

I recieved a response from someone from HP.

They requested my fault reference number and wanted to know what phone number I called.

I recieved no esponse after that.

In a nutshell it is obvious.

25 pages of problems and still no driver.

A new HP product will only get support for a very limited time.

A simple thing like a product driver will not be provided for machines over three years old.

Hahahaha....

In my opinion a company like Samsung will kill off companies like HP in the very near future and it's not just because they make superior products but because they care about customer retention.

I have a perfectly working all in one that I just cant use effectively anymore........Thanks HP...
