Have you tried the previous suggestion to download and use Microsoft/Windows SCAN from the App store, and then each time you want to use it go to

Services

Scroll to Windows Image Acquisition Services. Highlight, and click on RESTART.

Then use the SCAN app.

It's a bit awkward, but works for me.

What works for me is just going to the IP address of the scanner in a web browser and then selecting scan, it works without any apps or software required.

My scanner is not working, even though the printer is working fine. New Computer is linked to the wireless system and password.

What operating system you using?

This workaround WORKS! I have HP 5810 and Windows 11 can't detect its scanner. After I do this workaround it works, until it don't, and just repeat the steps.

Thank you for the info!

EDIT: I found further workaround on this, at least for me as I only plug the printer/scanner when I needed it.

In the Services app, go to Windows Image Acquisition service and set to manual. What happen is the service will not start at system boot, but when I plugged in my scanner the WIA service starts automatically and Windows 11 recognize the scanner immediately. This way it won't interrupt my workflow with opening the service app every time I want to scan.

Hope this helps.

This happened after an update.  Here are the numbers off of the back of my printer5LJ23A FPU NO. 5LJ23-64001 TH96H1S08R.  Officejet Pro8035.  I am unable to scan fro the printer scanner bed.
