OK, this forum is full of evasive, vague, useless replies to this problem, but I'll try anyway.

LaserJet 200 Color M251

Windows 7 Pro x64

Every time I return to my computer after it's been idle for a while, I get a Windows error telling me HPUTSCH has stopped working and offering to close the program. The details say that hpljutsch.exe caused the error.

What is the function of hpjutsch.exe?

How can I correct this, it's very annoying.

Thanks.

Hi @no_patience ,

I see by your post that you are getting the error " HPUTSCH has stopped working". I will certainly do my best to help you.

I believe the HPLJUTSCH.exe is part of HPUTSCH and developed by Hewlett Packard.

HPLJUTSCH.exe is usually located in the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HPLJUT\' folder.

If you check the printer properties, under the Details tab you will see the description.

The HP Task Scheduler might not be working. You can disable it by going to the Control Panel and search for Schedule. Click on Administrative tools\Schedule Tasks. On the left side, click on Task Scheduler Library. You should see a list of the tasks scheduled. Look for HPCustPartic or HPLJUT or any other HP name and right click it and choose disable.

I would suggest doing a System Restore back to before this issue if you are still having issues, if you haven't already.

System Restore.

If you would prefer not to do a System Restore, I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?

If you are still having issues uninstall and reinstall the HP software.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.
