HP PSC1510xi
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi, I have a fully functional PSC 1510xi all in one which I understand is now "Retired" meaning no support available from HP.  I like my HP1510 and would like to ask if anyone can help me get the software to work again.  I recently upgraded my OS from Windows Vista to Windows 7 32 Bit.  The printer works fine but the software disk won't load, thus, I can't use the scanner or other functions.  I get an error message "this software cannot be installed using the "Run As" command.  This installation cannot continue until this is resolved"  I am the administrator on this Dell Inspiron 1525 computer and I've tried many times with no success.  Perhaps this is because the software on my CD is not compatable with Windows 7?

I wsearched on line for PSC 1510 software compatable with Windows 7 and downloaded from several sites the same Executable (DJ1510_188)  The program loads but when I come to the step "plug in the printer USB" nothing happens.  The computer makes the sound of the cable being plugged in but the program has no clue!

PLEASE HELP

Leave USB disconnected from the PC

Connect USB only when the installation screen prompts you to.

Rats.  Well, it should / might / could work -- this driver does support your printer...

If you are using a USB cable to connect the printer to the computer, disconnect the USB cable.

Restart the computer and log in.

Right-Click on the downloaded package > Install as Admin

Connect the cable only when directed toward the end of the installation procedure.

Good Luck!

Hi Again Ratchet 31.  I will try this after I try the above download again.  I'm thinking your solution will take some time.  I'll try it later tonight or tomorrow.... It's kind of above my pay grade though 😞     Back to you when I've tried it.  I was thinking it might be a driver problem, the curent driver that is.   Thanks Again

If you have printer software already installed you want to get rid of that.

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features > scroll down, find, Right-Click and Uninstall

If there is already a printer listing in Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > click on it and remove it

Restart the computer and log in

If there is printer software in Programs and Features and it refuses to uninstall:

Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed
