HP P1566
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

I have an HP P1566 set up as my default printer in Outlook 2013.

Using Print Tools for Outlook, I automatically print all "Sent" mails.

HOWEVER, I only want to print the first page of each mail, because message threads can run into several pages and I don't want to prjnt all the pages each time I reply to a message thread.

Is there a way of doing this?

Outlook used to allow you to create a "Custom Action", in which you could do this, but the "Custom Action" option has been dropped by Microsoft for security reasons.

Print Tools for Outlooks doesn't have an option (that I can find).

So my only option is to configure the printer itself.

Hope someone reads this and can offer a solution.

Thanks

Hi,

A mail message is a messge, it do not contain any pages (as internet sites as example), therefore you will not be able to select a specific page...

A such cannot be controlled by the pritner driver in any manner, only from the program used to print.

You may open the email in a web browser, then print your selection, as well you may open the regular print dialog and not the quick print dialog, below are detailed steps for Outlook 2013:

Hi, Shlomi

Thanks for your advice.

I am trying to find a way to set the default, in the Outlook Print menu, to only print Page 1 of the document.

Right now, when you open the Print menu in Outlook, under "Page Range", there are two options:

  • All
  • Pages:

The Default is "All"

If I could change the Default to "Pages: 1", that would solve the problem.

So, is there a way of changing the Default setting in Outlook - Print - Print Options - Page Range?

Thanks for your assistance.

Best wishes

if you want to print just one page of a multipage email do the following click on file then print then print options then underneith the print style section you'll find the page range and then just click on the pages button and type in the number 1 and you are done

Thanks, but I want to know if there is way to make that the default setting, so I don't need to manually select it each time?

Hi,

There is no such option to set ti a default as I can see, All is the default value and its seems there is no way to change it.

The quickest way I was able to achieve a such was as following:

  1. Click File > Options.
  2. Select Quick Access Toolbar.
  3. Select the 'All Commands' category.
  4. Select 'Print Options' and press the Add button to move it to the right pane, then press OK.

It will add you the Print Option button to the quick access area (marked in the screenshot below), use that button to print and select the required page imediately from that screen, you will need however to select the page for each print:

Other than that I suggest contacting Microsoft, they surely know Outlook capabilities and limitations the best..
