Hi - I'm having exactly the same problem...only my printer doesn't even seem to be working via the USB connection since Ive got a new router.
Just as with this guy, the report shows my old SSID, and cannot find the new network.
I've seen the recommendation you make, but I am really not techy and don't even know where to find the Set Up menu, to start the troubleshooting you advise...can you be a little more specific?

Click on the Wireless button on the front of the printer. Scroll down by pressing the bottom minus sign on the right hand side of the printer until the words Wireless Settings are in the middle of the screen and press OK. Press the bottom minus sign again until you see Restore Defaults and then press Yes to reset the printer's network settings. Now use the installation disc if you still have it or download the latest Full Feature Software and Drivers at www.hp.com/support for your printer to initiate the USB to Wireless setup again. Let me know if you need help finding out if your computer is a Windows 7, XP, or Mac because if you try to download it from the internet you will need to know your operating system.
I followed the same instructions I gave you on my Deskjet and the computer did not register the USB cord until I plugged it in and ran the download for the installation of USB to Wireless. You may simply want to select to "Reconfigure Wireless Settings" when you get to that screen however. Let me know if you this works for you.

Thanks for that! Ok, so I have restored the printer to the default setting, and the test report confirms that it no longer has my old router as the SSID - it has instead an SSID which appears to be the name of the printer itself?
When I follow the next step of guidance posted earlier in this thread I encounter a clear problem: when I try to establish a wireless connection via the printer's WPS option it gives me to 2 minutes to hit the WPS button on my router. Depsite doing this (and seeing the WPS light on my router flash), my printer does not establish a connection, and times out. All the following steps for configuring my printer to my new router are therefore pointless.
Can you offer any advice? This is so frustrating as establishing a wireless connection with my new router for all my other devices is so straight forward!!!

I know how it is! I am trying to do the exact same thing you are and I know it can be so frustrating. I gave up using the push button and the PIN method for "Router configuration" as it so kindly instructed me to enter in some numbers in my router but I immediately got nervous getting into my router as I have locked myself out in the past and had to do a complete reset on the whole network.
This is the best suggestion I have for you since it is what worked for me. Assuming you have a Windows-based PC, press your "Start" button and go to "All Programs." Under the HP folder, do you have a Deskjet 3050 folder in it? If so, proceed with the next steps. If not, use the disc or the download at www.hp.com/support to install the printer Full Feature Software on your computer.
To do a USB to wireless installation: All Programs>>HP Folder>>Deskjet 3050>>Printer Setup and Software>>USB to Wireless. After you select USB to Wireless, the installation window will prompt you to plug in the USB then. It will configure your printer's wireless settings based on the computer's wireless connection.
If you do not have a computer, what devices do you have? The steps will be different if you are using an iPad or Tablet.

Thanks Visionary but that the method Ive been trying repeatedly and it just doesnt work...even after I have restored my printer's settings and unistalled and reinstalled it on my computer.
Arrhhhh - nothing seems to be working! I cant believe how complicated it is. Every other device in my house connected easily to this new router - I'm so close to buying a new printer...WHICH WILL NOT BE HP!!!
Can anyone help???

I was going through what you did and then today I finally got the Deskjet printer I was working with to connect. I was looking through the previous post marked as Solution and they provided a link like the one I am about to post here but that was about a Photosmart printer. I hope this document helps you out some.
--"Unable To Find Printer During Wireless Installation"--
I hope this helps because there could be a complete reset for this printer that will make it forget it was ever connected before. Step 8 of the document above can get kind of tricky. I hope it is something simple. If you do not feel comfortable doing those steps I understand because it seems like a lot to do to get the printer set up. I know a fairly easy reset to wipe the memory of the Deskjet clean if you want to try it but I have to send those instructions via private message and they are not guaranteed to fix it. Just let me know if you would rather try that than the steps in the above document.

Visionary....IT WORKED!!! I've tried that printer doctor before with no joy...but for some reason it completely resolbed the problem and I now have a wireless connection. I dont know why it worked now...maybe something to do with an earlier step I did.
Thanks so much for your help :manvery-happy:
