As a follow up to my prior post, I called HP back. Although it took another 2 calls and approximately 1 hour, HP did send me out a new cartridge. I appreciate the customer service.

Please note, You can't get a replacement for a defective cartridge Period!  All you will get is handing off around the telephone pool (I went through 4 the second time before they just disconnected).  Wasted 2 hours of my time, not that HP would care!  HP used to be a good company but they were bought out by Compaq, and it would seem that this influence is fully integrqated now into the HP Brand.  Love spending 2 X price for ink cartridges and then being run arround by the warranty / technical support department. I will not buy another HP Product nor recomend it to anyone, not because they are bad but because if you do have a problem you just run into a wall.  It's like trying to deal with Government.

Sure you can!  Just did it today.  Call in 800-474-6836, the magic menu combination is "Technical Support" -listen to support.hp.com spill- "Something Else" then "Ink Cartridge."  From there you will be transferred to a real person.  You will need your printer's serial number, the defective cartridge model, and the expiration date on the cartridge.  Before calling, just to cover all the bases make sure that you:

  • Cleaned cartridge contacts (I use glasses cleaner wipes for this)
  • Cleaned printer contacts (I use glasses cleaner wipes for this)
  • Replaced defective cartridge with a new one (to again prove a cartridge fault)
  • Prints proving cartridge defect (I didn't have to have this)

HP is sending a replacement that I should have in a few days.  They'll also offer to extend your warranty on the printer if it's still in date.  Hope this helps!

Well you must be in the USA, because in Canada they are rude and then hang up on you! after 40 minutes of waiting.  So Lucky you to live in the USA
