@CVRD

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you considered downloading the full feature software as it's a package deal that includes the Readiris software? Click here to find it on HP

You could also try installing the software from the Apple software: Click here for instructions.

While you respond to that, here's where to download it: Click here

(The above link is 3rd party and is not owned by HP, I've posted this only so that I may help you resolve this issue by going beyond by support boundaries, please ignore the ads and take only the free suggestions)

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉

Hi, Riddle_Decipher. I respond to your major points below, and follow with a bit more of the back story.

"Have you considered downloading the full feature software as it's a package deal that includes the Readiris software? Click here to find it on HP"

You may think that Readiris is included in the full feature sofware package (HP Easy Start) but, in fact, it is not. If fact, HP Easy Start says:

'Remind Me…

Set reminders to explore and install free HP-recommended software.

Readiris Pro 14 for HP:  Readiris Pro provides your HP products with advanced OCR and scanning features. Easily convert your paper documents into editable and searchable PDF files, ready to be stored and shared.'

"You could also try installing the software from the Apple software: Click here for instructions."

You may think that Readiris is included in the Apple HP Drivers, but, in fact, it is not.

"While you respond to that, here's where to download it: Click here "

While the sofware is certainly available on the Iris site, it is not complementary. Version 16 costs US$99.

The interesting thing is that when I got my M227 printer a couple of months ago, after "exploring" for a while, I downloaded Readiris 15 on my iMac. In the interim I changed the M227 for an M277 (thank you so much, Best Buy Canada, you went way beyond the call of duty there) and then decided I needed the Readiris software on my MacBook Air. I noticed that the site looked and worked differently, and, I'm pretty sure, any Readiris download links for Macintosh have been lost in the shuffle. (I did some more exploring, and Readiris downloads exist for Windows PCs.)

I think someone needs to find that pesky ol' Readiris15.dmg file and put it up for all of us forlorn Mac users.

Thanks, Riddle_Decipher. I look forward to your rewarding search.

Hi @CVRD,

I reviewed the post completely. Great effort and remarkable appetite were shown to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for that and it is greatly appreciated. As the version 16 is a paid software, I think it is best to contact the original software developer to check if there is an older version of it that could be downloaded for free for this version of the Mac Operating system. It should be compatible with your operating system also.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂

I am at a loss to understand why Readiris 15 (not 16) is available for download to Windows users but not Macintosh users, especially since 1) it was available two months ago and 2) downloading it is clearly referred to in both the "Getting Started Guide" and the "HP Easy Start " application without specifying any limitation on operating systems.

@CVRD

Thank you for replying with this overwhelming and detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I'm afraid as you've mentioned this is a complimentary software provided by the local store you've purchased the printer from and they seem to have removed it now as it's entirely possible that it was a limited time offer, for more details I recommend you contact the local Best Buy Canada and obtain more information about the same.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
