How do I tell which ink cartridge is low on the 6978 All in one Printer?

From the front panel.

 

Swipe the top down, select the ink droplet, 5th icon from the left.  done.

 

Use the printers EWS by going to the printers IP address in your browser.

 

I found all this in the User Guide.

sabretooth04 - I have no idea what you are talking about. If I swipe down on the front of the printer, I get "schedule". Where is the users guide?

User Guides are typiclally found on the HP Web site for you model number printer.
