Which cartridge series? Which printer? If it is something like the 564 or 920 cartridge (assuming you are in the US, different numbers in different regions) then hold the cartridge with the latch toward you and the orange handle on top.  Push the lever to turn the orange cap counterclockwise, it will break bree and can be removed once it has turned a quarter turn or so.
