OfficeJet 5740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Trying to install the drivers/software for the OfficeJet 5740 on a Win10 machine and it is saying that serscan.sys is missing. I don't have the original Windows disc. Where can I get this file so I can use this printer?

Note: I was able to install on my laptop just fine, but not my desktop.

This is a problem specific to HP, and required by HP software.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the update on the issue. I truly appreciate your efforts in resolving the problem.

The steps you updated will help other community members to solve their similar issues. However, the issue that you are facing is specific to HP driver. You may check the following articles for similar issues, as this issue is seen in Windows versions other than Windows XP as well.

Apart from that, HP would be able to provide you a better answer, so as to what this component is used for. Hence I would suggest you to get the query addressed by HP.

In addition to that, please feel free to reply, in case you face any other issues with Windows in future. We'll be glad to assist you again.

Regards,
Sahil Bali
