I signed up for Instant Ink when I bought the printer a few months ago.  $2.99 plan.  First instant ink cartridges still in box, but getting near putting in the first one.  In a couple months travel plans will leave the printer idle for about 4 months.  Will the rollover pages not used pick up all 4 months of non used pages?

I have no idea how many pages I've printed in the past few months, and seems no way to find out until Instant Ink plan kicks in.

Hello, and welcome to the HP Community @dsttexas,

I understand you are curious about how the rollover pages work with Instant Ink. I will be happy to help.

This information is on the Instant Ink home page. Here is a link: Instant Ink

If you do not use all your plan pages in a month, the unused pages will be kept in your account as rollover pages. Your rollover pages are available as long as you are enrolled in HP Instant Ink. You can continue to roll over up to the number of pages in your monthly plan (for example, you can roll over up to 50 pages if you are enrolled in a 50 page plan). If you have printed all of the pages in your plan, and you have used all of your rollover pages, you can still print additional pages and save.

Since the Instant Ink program does not start until you insert the cartridges from the welcome kit, you could purchase a new ink cartridge from the store and use those in the meantime, then when they are empty (after you travel) insert the welcome kit cartridges. Or, you could insert the cartridges when your current ones are empty and enroll in the program, then right before you leave for 4 months call us at 1‑855‑785‑2777, and temporarily cancel your account, then re-enroll you when you return. Both options will ensure you are not paying for the Instant Ink service while your printer is idle.

Thanks for the complete response.  I now understand that any unused plan pages (in my case all 50) would rollover to the next month for a total of 100 max before individual page charges.  Then the second month in my case, I would use 0 pages, and the rollover amount remains 50, for a max of 100 for that month.  Each succeeding month while gone, until I return, the amount of available pages would be 100 for the first month I start re-using the printer.  Is this correct?

Also, I can "temporarily" suspend monthly payments until my return by calling the 800#.  The Terms of Service says any cancellation requires the return of any unused or ceased being used instant ink cartridges.  For this type of "temporary" suspension I assume no returns are required.  Is this correct?

Thank you,

Don Travis
