Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8620.  I set it up months ago and it works.  I don't remember much about the setup, but suspect I just set it up in an efficient fashion, not installing all the bells and whistles.  I now need to do a scan to OCR function and it's telling that I haven't installed the OCR software.  How do I install the OCR software after the fact?

Hi @hppaulhp ,

I see by your post that you would like to install the OCR Software. I will do my best to help you.

Most likely you just installed the Basic Print Drivers.

You would need to download and install the Full Feature Software.

HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Here is a document for scanning on Windows 7. There is a section for scanning with OCR.

Scan from Windows 7 With the Full Feature HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers.

Here is a screen shot of the HP Scan Software, with the selection of the OCR option.

Hope this helps.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

I need to scan a document and be able to edit it.  The printer says I need to download the OCR function.  Please advise.

Plenty of free OCR programs on the web.

http://www.freeocr.net/

http://www.ocrtoword.com/

I have used both.  Works just fine.

Hi,

Some how the Setup did not install OCR software. Please try

(a) Open the CD which came with the printer,

(b) Open Folder Optional

(Right click and Run IrisOCR.msi

Aftere that you can see option save as OCR files.
