Well, worked it another way around:
Installed the printer through the computer and acessed the IP throug internet explorer.
Then went to the second tab and the selected the 7th line in the left.
The language is the last setting in that panel which is a dropdown menu.
I was able to figure it out by looking at the adresses that appeared at the bottom of the page as i hovered the mouse throug th shortcuts!
Hooray!

I had the same problem. WHen I set it up it was French, Called HP they set it to English. then recently accidentally hit a display button and I was German. Here are the steps to correct a language error.
I run XP Pro, and have a HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401n: HOw to change language for HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401n:
1. click start, click All Programs.
2. search the list for HP. as you highlight HP, to the right opens another menu that shows your printer, HP LaserJetPro 400
3. highlight the printer name, and that opens another menu with HP Device Toolbox. click Hp Device Toolbox
4. a page opens.
5. Click System along the top. that opens a drop down menu. click System Setup. Search that page and in the middle is "language" and select English. click apply and your done. Close the window.
this is long after your initial error. hope it helps in the future.

I saw some other posts in different forums that had it close with the Cancel button at Right Arrow button.
Power down the LaserJet Pro M401n printer.
Hold down the Cancel button and the LEFT arrow button, and then power on the printer.
Release both buttons when the LCD displays "Permanent storage init." This will remain on the screen for a while so be patient!
The screen will then display "Initializing permament storage." while the Ready and Error LEDs flash.
The print will be back at the factory out-of-the-box state where you choose your language.
Hope this helps!

If the printer is networked, you can do the following:
1. From browser, type the IP address to connect to the embedded web server.
2. Click the second tab, which is "System" in English
3. From the list of links on the left, click the 6th link from the top. This is "System Setup" in English
4. On the right pane, the last drop down box is "Language:" in English. Click the drop down and select your language.
5. On the bottom left are two buttons. The first button is "Apply" in English. Click this button to save your settings.
You should now be able to see your language applied. 🙂
Cheers.
