This works you should mention to continue to hit the back arrow even though it's not lit up. Then the hidden "support" menu comes up fast and just says the word ""support in very small type so you almost miss it.
When you do finally see the word "support" tap the screen while the word support is visible because it disappears quickly.
I went back to hitting the unlit arrow 4x and the little "support" word appeared. then I got to the settings but they are not fancy so don't be looking for the original software. This is like a "safe" mode" version but it works!!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! I followed you instructions and I was able to reset the admin password. I tried contact HP by phone and on line, they couldn't help me solve the problem. (Google is my friend) I googled how to reset and I can to this HP page and your information worked. Please be aware that there are site that claim to Professional HP printer support and the 1st thing they do is ask to connect to your computer. I asked them simple questions like where are you located, is there a number I can called then they blocked my ability to send them messages. HOW COME INFORMATION ABOUT FACTORY RESET IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE IN YOUR USER GUIDE THAT IS PROVIDED IN THE BOX OF THE PRINTER, (YES I AM SHOUTING) If I didn't find the solution I was going to return this printer. You should treat your paying customers better. Finally, thank you for the information that helped me solve my problem.
