I'm having an issue logging into efax (separate post in Scanning/Fax forum) and would like to do a "master" "hard" reset of my 7510. I can't find instructions on how to do so. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?  The only thing I've found is how to restore factory settings, but that's not enough.  Thanks!

Hi,

Please try from the printer control panel:

  • Touch setup/settings
  • Touch Tools
  • Scroll down and touch to "Restore Factory Defaults".

Regards.

That's it? Isn't there a way to do a hard reset of the unit -- not just restore factory defaults?

Hi,

Restore to factory defaults means put the machine back to the time opening the box. Many printers now use software to control, in this case: firmware.

Hope this makes sense.

I understand that totally. Reason I asked is, when I followed that procedure, the network settings did not return to default - my home network was still in the settings.  Also, a lot of computers/ electronics have a more through unit reset (sometimes started by pressing a combination of buttons).   I understand what my option is with the 7510, however.

Hello,

I like to add that performing factory reset doesn't do much.  At some point (perhaps when I purchased the unit) a user name and password was set on the printer being that is wireless and now (two yrs later) when I tried to look into the e-fax feature, I was searching on the printer's web based settings (using internet explorer, firefox, water fox, chrome, etc.) and it asked me for a user name and password to access user settings and I have not being able to reset it.   It feels like I have a piece of hardware that can only print (I know is a printer) but would like to access the additional features.

I have followed all of the instructions to do a total reset of my HP 7510 Printer, even cleaned the cartridges and did a print alignment. However, when I try to print a document, I get an error message that there isn't enough memory to handle the job. So now what do I need to do to get this printer working again?
