HP LaserJet 1320
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello, I am trying to duplex print documents on a HP LaserJet 1320 Printer.  This feature use to show up under the finishing tab in the printer setup dialog box but is now not there after upgrading it to a Windows 7 64bit PC from a XP system.  I have downloaded the Universal Printer Driver found on HP website for that model number with a file name of "upd-pcl5-x64-6.1.0.20062".  The Printer is plugged into a USB port an will print fine in simplex mode.  How do I get the settings to allow duplex mode?  Do I need a different driver?  If so, what eactly do I need to download?  Any help here would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The 'automatic discovery' feature used by some (Windows) drivers on installation (or update) doesn't always work; ensure that the driver knows that a duplex unit is present on the printer (assuming that one is present):

  • For the printer instance in question, bring up the Printer properties dialogue.
  • Select the Device settings tab.
  • Ensure that the duplex unit is set to Installed rather than Not installed.

You'll probably need to be logged in with administrator credentials in order to change the device settings.
