HP Envy 4500
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried to set-up some data of my printer through its IP address which is 192.168.1.140. Under this web service, it requested me username and password. I don't remember that I have those printer related credentials. I tried to use my computer and router's passwords, but failed. Where to find the username and password of my printer?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Are you able to "Restore to Factory Defaults" to clear the printer's webpage settigns?

Let us know if that works!

Thank you for the quick reply. I retored the factory default on the printer's square screen and it still presented the same request. Pleaes review the attached picture. Thanks!

Maybe try a combination of "Admin", "admin", and "password". I belive most of the times it's admin as the username and leave the password field blank.

Theoretically these credentials should be my router wireless access point because I connected my printer to the router’s wireless. But it didn’t work to use them for the login.

Wait, you are trying to log onto your printer using your browser? This has nothing to do with your router. Your printer and router have different access passwords. Normally, it it wasn't configured before, it's "admin"or something like that. Did you try that out?

I did all the combination, admin & (blank), admin & password, admin & admin, Admin & (blank), Admin & password, and Admin & admin. None of them work.

Your point about the message from the browser is good. However, after I input those credentials wronly, there was an error message for checking the network. Please see the photo. That's why my guess was focus on the wireless network.

Hmm, than Imm out of ideas. The photo is unfortunately not loading for me. It's just a yellow triangle but that might be just me and my internet connection.

Thank you Lucarus, maybe we just wait for printer experts to give us more advanced opinions. Have a nice weekend!
