I recently changed to Windows 10 and now I cannot use my HP Scanjet 4850. I cannot find a driver to make this work. (But once, yesterday, while trying unsuccessfully to use the HP Support Assistant, it actually came on and enabled me to make and save one picture scan. Once closed, however, I could not get it back.)

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP forum.
Can you try this :
HP Scan Extended
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Let us know if that works.

Thanks ever so much. Do you know if this will restore all or most of the features of the scanner? Or just a bare basic scanning of photos? I ask because HP Tech Support already called and helped me get the scanner connected to use bare basic photo scanning, but the tech said I could not get back the full features, like OCR scanning of text to make it editable, various adjustment possibilities, etc. So if HP Extended will restore more of those feature, I want to do it; if not, I do not now need to. (And if it will, will there be a problem downloading HP Extended over what I now have?)

Hi @Bob123451
Thanks for your feedback.
We won't know unless we try the download right?
Why don't you try and see if it will meet your needs?
Thanks.
