I understand that you're trying to print from your iPad. I would try using the ePrint mobile app below.

Hi Redbrick,
I'm sorry you are having issues printing from your iPad to your Officejet 4500 Desktop.
The Desktop version of the Officejet 4500 can only be connected by USB cable to a computer. As it doesn't have wireless or ethernet capabilities there is no way for your iPad to communicate with the printer. I have included the product specifications for your review.

HP 4500 officejet does have wireless capability ... why do you say its not wireless or RJ45 network capable? I however fail to see any proper driver to print from iPAD:
