Hi! I have a HP Photosmart 6520 and for the life of me cannot figure out how to print with the black cartridge ONLY on my Mac. Seems there are many posts regarding how to change this setting on Windows, but I am unable to figure it out for my Mac.
Alternatively, if there is a way to turn off the low ink warning so documents will print with black ink even if the CMY cartridges are low/empty, that would work too.
Working on wedding invitations so time is of the essence!
Thanks,
Hilary

Hi Hilary,
Hi,
Follow the steps below in order to print using Black Ink only:
1. From the application used to print, click the File menu and select Print.
The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized: Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
2. To access the color options, click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
3. Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.
4. Click the triangle next to Color Options to expend the settings.
5. Set the Color field as Grayscale.
6. Set the Grayscale Mode as Black Ink Cartridge Only.
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
Note: be aware that you may print with black only while other cartridges are low of ink. once any cartridge fully depletes you must replace it to resume priniting..
Click the Yes button to reply that the response was helpful or to say thanks.

So there is no way to print with the black ink only if the three other colors are depleted? I will need to purchase new color inks even though I want to print only in black?
Are we sure there's no workaround for this?
Thanks
