After 5400 pages I got the error 0xc19a0042 on my printer. I have changed the ink cartridges without any better result. But when I open the printer and touch the cartridge and printerhead holder, I often can print out a few prints before the error show up again. It can not be a permanent error. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
I bought a new HP printhead, but can´t find any instructions on HPs pages or internet. Do I need to unscrew the top?
I hope somebody have had the same problem and can help me with some advice.

Thanks for all advices. I have now solved the problem. As I told you before, I bought a HP printhead on ebay. I opened up the printer and except for the lid stopper that was no problem. To deassamble the lid stopper I had to pop it out with help of a screwdriver. I took out the power supply and the LCD-panel. Then it was easy to lift out the lid and scanner and change the printhead with all the electronics. I cleaned out all old ink from the printer floor and that was a lot of ink. After putting it together again it worked again.

This printer uses ink cartridges that have the printhead built in, so unlikely a printhead issue. Considering the number of pages printed, and the fact that by touching the cartridge can make the error go away temporally, indicate it may be due to the contact s worn out.

You can see the square gold contacs on the back of the cartridges, and matching location on the carriage that holds the cartridges. If the contacts on the carriage worn out or damaged, there is no good way to fix, repair may cost more than the printer is worth. I would suggest try use a piece of linkfree cloth, give it a clean, just incase there were dirt, moisture, ink residue, etc. thats affecting the connection.

I appreciate your help. A last question. I can see a lot of contacts on the printhead. It could be one of those contacts causing the problem. Is it possible to change the printhead and in short, how are you doing it? I already have one.
Thank you very much. You have a great service.

typically, it's not the contacts on the cartridge (with printhead on it), it's the contacts on the carriage, that you insert the cartridge.
In other words, the printhead is replaced everytime you replace the cartridge (the printhead is at the bottom of the cartridge).
By the way, even though I work for HP, I am here as a fellow user, offering my opinion and help. I do not represent HP service.
Based on your description of the issue, I don't think you need to replace the printhead or the cartridge. Your are getting this message because the printer couldn't get proper information from the printhead (due to bad connection).
One thing I do recommend is to remove the cartridges, give the carriage (and the contacts on it) a good clean with a piece of dry lint free cloth, just in case that help bring back the connection.

Thanks for letting us know. I must have misread the model number of the printer and gave you the wrong information. Glad you were able to fix it.
