you can do "reset factory default" by control panel menu; or permanent initialization by power off first,  holding and cover the right corner/left corner of the control panel when powering on.. release your finger when you are seeing "permanent initialization...". after it completed and return to Ready,  it indicates the reset is finished.

Hi,

Please perform the following steps to reset the Password in HP LJ Pro 400 M425 Printer.

1. Please turn ON the Printer in standalone mode.

2. Then, please place your thumb on the Ready tab in the home screen.

3. While pressing the Ready tab, restart the Printer.

4. Keep pressing the Ready tab until the Permanent Storage message appears on the Screen.

5. Now, release the Tab, the Printer would initialize and come back to Ready state.

This should reset the Password.
