Is there a way to disable the light bar on a HP ENVY 6032 when it is idle?
When the printer is idle, it displays a blue/white light in the centre of the light bar and the manual says it is supposed to do this but ideally I would like the light bar to go out completely when idle. The printer is in a bedroom and I know I can turn it off completely by the switch on the back but I'd rather not fumble around with it trying to switch it on and off as it is in quite an awkward location on the back.

If it stays on even in sleep mode then likely you will need to resort to black tape over the light.

Hi@AutoUnder, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Apologies for all the inconvenience. Request you to follow the below troubleshooting steps
I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:
Power usage is reduced while in Sleep mode. After the initial setup of the printer, the printer will enter Sleep mode after
five minutes of inactivity. Use the HP Smart app to change the period of inactivity before the printer sleeps by
selecting Advanced Settings. You can also change this setting using the printer’s embedded web server by
completing the following steps.
To change the time to Sleep mode
1. Open the embedded web server (EWS). 2. Click the Settings tab.
3. In the Power Management section, click Energy Saver Mode, and select the desired option.
NOTE: If prompted for a password, enter the PIN from the label on your printer. It might be near the
cartridge access area inside the printer or on the back, side, or bottom of the printer.
4. Click Apply.
To open the embedded web server through a network
1. From the printer control panel, press and hold (the Information button) until all the buttons light up,
and then press and at the same time to print the wireless network test report and network
configuration page.
2. Find out the IP address or hostname of the printer from the network configuration page.
3. In a supported web browser on your computer, type the IP address or hostname assigned to the printer.
For example, if the IP address is 192.168.0.12, type the following address into a web browser:
To open the embedded web server from HP Smart (Windows and macOS)
To open the embedded web server from HP Smart:
1. Click on the printer image.
2. Click Advanced Settings.
Energy Save Mode

4. Click Apply
Auto-Off
This feature turns the printer off after 2 hours of inactivity to help reduce energy use. Auto-Off turns the printer
off completely, so you must use the Power button to turn the printer back on. If your printer supports this
energy-saving feature, Auto-Off is automatically enabled or disabled depending on printer capabilities and
connection options. Even when Auto-Off is disabled, the printer enters Energy Save Mode after 5
minutes of inactivity to help reduce energy use.
● Auto-Off is always enabled if the printer does not have network or fax capability.
● Auto-Off is disabled when a printer’s wireless or Wi-Fi Direct capability is turned on or when a printer with
fax, USB, or Ethernet network capability establishes fax, USB, or Ethernet network connection.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
