How to tell when roll of paper nearing end

I think there is a way to check to see how much paper is left on the roll...does anyone know how to do this?

when I load media on my Z3200 & screen asks me how long the media, but I never use this option. Because I use canvas mostly & always cut by hand after print.

Check your printer & see does it have that option.

Many rolls have glue to the tube & must be careful when near the end, because if paper stuck & printer would continue to print & the remaining inks can mess up the printer & has to be cleaned.  Myself messed up countless times before.

My printer does not have this function. Any other ideas?
