Photosmart Prem c410
macOS 10.12 Sierra

When I use the HP Easy Scan software I get the following error when scanning from the flatbed: "

HP Photosmart Prem C410 series is currently unavailable. Ensure your device is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the device and try scanning again."

It works fine if I use the feeder either by specifying it explicitely or in auto select WHEN a document is in the feeder.

The flatbed works fine from the Printers and Scanners section of system preferences.  It also works fine from the embedded web server.  It is just from HP Easy Scan that doesn't work.

Please note that I have removed and reinstalled all HP drivers and software, reset printer settings, etc..  From what I can tell I have the latest of everything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

Hey there! @cBroadbo, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you scan using HP easy scan app you are getting error Ensure your device is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly on your printer.

Don't worry I'd to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Reset the print system

Resetting the print system deletes all printers in the queue. This includes both HP and non-HP printers.
Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, then click Reset printing system.
Click Reset in the confirmation window.
Enter the Administrator name and password, then click OK.
Wait for the printing system to reset. When complete, no printers should display in the list.
Try installing the HP driver and software again, then add the printer to the Mac.
Try to scan.

Refer the article to further troubleshoot Network Scanner Connection Error.

Also, uninstall and reinstall the HP easy scan app and check if it works.

Please let me know the outcome.

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

Hi MrRobot,

I didn't do anything that I can think of to start this problem.  It's been happening for some time (since HP Scan 3) and I just tried to fix it yesterday.  I have reset the print system several times and reinstalled drivers and software.

The flatbed scanning WORKS through the Printers and Scanners in System Preferences and from the Embedded Web interface.  The only place flatbed scanning does not work is from within HP Easy Scan.  That's where we need to find a solution.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Craig

@cBroadbo, thanks for your generous response and time.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

Please try the steps mentioned below.

Install the latest HP Printer Drivers 5.0 directly from Apple using this link.

Next, move the HP Easy Scan app to the trash and empty the trash, then reinstall the latest version of HP Easy Scan app from this link.

I'll watch your reply!

Cheers! 🙂

I'm sorry to say that neither of those steps solved my issue.

Anything else to try?

Thanks,

Craig

@cBroadbo, Thanks for your response and time.

I appreciate your efforts in trying out the steps.

I would suggest try uninstalling printer software your MAC and install the latest printer software and check if it helps.

Please try the steps recommended below.

Click Finder in the Dock.
In the menu bar, click Go, click Applications, then open the HP or Hewlett-Packard folder.
If HP Uninstaller is in the folder, double click it, then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.
If HP Uninstaller is not in the folder, continue to the next step.
Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.
In the menu bar, click Go, click Go to Folder, type /Library/Printers, then click Go.
The Printers folder opens.
Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.
Restart the Mac.
Right-click or Ctrl + click the Trash icon, then select Empty Trash.

Please install the printer software directly from apple using this link.

I'll keep an eye out for your response.

I hope you have a great day! 🙂
