Hello, @Altra – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for reaching out! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
I understand that you are having issues while printing using your Officejet printer series. Let’s start by downloading the updated version of PSDR from here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe
Just download and execute the file found there and disregard first the self-update screen that comes up.
If the issue persists, then follow the steps below to completely fix the issue:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61242/mp-147828-1/OJ3830_Basicx64_72.exe to install the software.
- In the connection type window, select “Wireless” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Good luck 🙂

Thank you however as I said the scan doctor is not working and I cannot install it. Once i download it, its just extracts and pops off and nothing happens same thing when I click the files over again. I tried your second idea and I get an error saying installation error this may indicate there is an error with the package the error code is 2753... this happens when I click to accept terms and click next to install the driver. It use to work fine but now not anymore.. I think doing one of your things ticked it off xD.

Hello @Altra
Thanks for the update!
I have seen the similar error when the antivirus or the firewall on the computer is blocking the install. You can try the steps mentioned below:
1. Uninstall the printer files completely as I mentioned above.
Try using Microsoft Fix It tool to uninstall. You can download it here: http://hp.care/2dHImNI
2. Perform a clean boot of Windows.
Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2iiL5jr
3. Once you boot the computer, press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
Locate and find the following services from the list, right click and restart the services.
Remote procedure call, Windows Installer, Shell hardware detection & Function Discovery Provider Host.
Make sure all the above-mentioned services are started and type is "Automatic"
4. Turn off any antivirus / anti-firewall applications you have.
5. Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61242/mp-147828-1/OJ3830_Basicx64_72.exe to install the software.
In the connection type window, select “Wireless” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let me know how that goes!
Good luck 🙂

Hello, @Altra
Thanks for the update!
Just to confirm, while installing the printer, you are getting a "Driver package error" with the error code 2753. Is that right? The error message is associated with Windows Installer problems. I would first suggest the steps mentioned below to fix the issue:
1) Uninstall the printer drivers as suggested in my first post and restart your PC.
2) Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "cmd" and press enter to get the command prompt open.
3) Type the following command into Command Prompt: regsvr32 vbscript.dll
4) Press “Enter” to execute the command. Command Prompt will display a message that reads, “DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded.”
- If the command does not result in the above message, type the command again and press “Enter” to execute.
5) Now, click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61242/mp-147828-1/OJ3830_Basicx64_72.exe to install the software.
That should do the trick. Let me know!
Cheers 🙂
