I have tried everything in this forum to get back up and running to no avail. I initially had an ink system error after changing the yellow cartridge. I did various combinations of unplugging, restarting, reseating printhead and cartridges and even did a soft reset. I am now in an endless animation loop that I can't get out of. Is my three-year-old machine toast? I can't see paying $120 for a replacement printhead on a machine that cost me $129. Any ideas?

Hey there! @bigtuna157, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand your printer is stuck in the endless loop of animation after a print head error.

Kudos to you trying out the steps before reaching out to us.

Don't worry I'd like to help.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC or printer?

Try updating the firmware on your printer and check if it helps.

Link to update printer firmware.

Let me know how it goes!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Thanks for your reply. I have not made any software changes recently, but did download new firmware. Unfortunately, a pop-up box says that "Something is wrong with your device. It appears to be in error state and cannot be updated until you resolve the problem." Another obstacle.

@bigtuna157, thanks for your quick response and time.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

Please try performing a semi full reset on your printer and check if it helps.

Since the steps to perform semi full reset is confidential, I will be sending you the steps in a private message.

Let me know if it helps!

Take Care! 🙂

I can't seem to access that menu. I hold down the start button for 5 seconds and the screen goes black. I press the back button (does not appear, but it is the only button I remember seeing) in the lower left four times, but nothing happens. If there is a b and l button, I don't see them. Unless you mean the 2 and 5 button on the keyboard?

Thanks for the reply.

Superb job on trying the different steps to isolate the issue.

It seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to contact HP phone support for further assistance.

Cheers.
