C4795 - serial no: CN02IMF0JS
Microsoft Windows NT

Hooked up C4795 printer/scanner/copier to new PC. Have no problem printing or copying like before. However, cannot scan from scanner to PC like before. Now I have to direct the scanning option from the computer. I looked it up, and realized I never "installed" the printer like I did on my last PC. I pull out the orignal disc that came with HP C4795. Put it in computer I bought back in April of 2016.

After inserting the disc into PC I have to click on 'Install or Run Program from your Media".

At the top of the HP - Photosmart C4700 series Pop-up it says "Select Install to begin installing your new HP device."

Then the ONLY BUTTON I can click on is "Exit"

There is no "Install" button for me to click on.

I was going to upload a copy of the print-screen to show you, but your attachment button isn't accepting the docment I'm trying to attach.

How do I get the C4795 correctly linked to my PC; so that when I push the "Scan" button, then "Scan to PC" button on the C4795 itself that it will actually work?

Yes, I can get it to scan when directing it from the PC, but I want it to work when I push the button with my finger on the C4795.

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi @AnnaS1,

Welcome to the HP community and thanks for posting your question here. A very good day to you! 🙂  I read the post about regarding scanning issues from the printer to the PC. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

You’ve done an excellent job on diagnosing the issue from your end. Superb effort and spectacular analysis of the issue. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 We greatly value your relationship with HP.  You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this:

  • Have you tried to make standalone copies from the printer to isolate the issue correctly?
  • Do you get any error messages when trying to scan?
  • Have you run the print and scan doctor utility?

For starters, please run the print and scan doctor utility from this link: http://support.hp.com/th-en/product/HP-LaserJet-M1130-Multifunction-Printer-series/5094778/model/407... to check for scan related problems. Then check if the issue gets fixed.

If it does not, please uninstall the printer software completely by performing these steps:

  •  In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.

Then please download and install the full feature software from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Photosmart-C4700-All-in-One-Printer-series/379461...

Please select the correct operating system relevant to your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

This should do the trick for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. I'm always there to assist you. Please reach out anytime. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
