I can't find a printer driver for my LaserJet P1006 while using OS Big Sur 11.5.2

I went to this page and had no luck:

I have a MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

Big Sur 11.5.2

I tried uninstalling all HP software but that link gave me an error message.  I tried downloading software but again error message.  When I go to System Preferences, unlocked Security, went to Printers and + the only closest choice was HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5 and that didn't work.  HELP!!!  I love my P1006.

@jwarb, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are trying to install the printer on the Mac. This printer is not AirPrint compatible.

Check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

HP Support site has a driver available for this model via the HP Easy Start app.

Click here to download the same.

I know it's been a while since you gave me a solution, but I've been trying for days to click on your link & keep getting an error message that HP Support website is down & try again.  I even tried contacting HP for support & received the same message.  HELP!

The driver is no longer available due to the age of the printer. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.

If this does not help, I suggest you upgrade the printer.
