HP Deskjet 1112
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I used to be able to print from Microsoft Word & Excel (and also Wordpad) to my HP Deskjet 1112 but all of a sudden it no longer prints from these applications, it just sits there. WIth the queue window opened up I can see the job appear and then disappear from the queue but it never comes out on the printer. I am able to print from Internet Explorer, Chrome,  Acrobat reader, and Notepad. I tried reinstalling the printer driver but that did not help.

@markstill,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.

I understand that your HP Printer does not print word and excel files.

This issue could occur if the MS office is not updated to the latest version.

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: How to troubleshoot printing problems in Word

If the issue persists, then you may install the basic drivers from the link: Basic Driver

Let me know how that works.

I hope you have a good day ahead.

The trouble is that when I try to print I can see that the job goes in and out of the printer queue but never comes out on the printer (and the printer does not even make any noises like it is trying to print it) so I don't think it is a Microsoft Word issue but a driver or printer issue. I have reinstalled the printer driver and that hasn't made a difference.

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.

Please follow the link to install the built-in drivers: Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.

I tried installing the WIndows built-in driver and it still has the same problem, where when I print from Word the job appears in the queue (in the "what's printing" window) and then goes away without ever printing on the printer.
