Photosmart A512

Can I use the bt500 in place of the bt300 for Bluetooth printing. I installed it but nothing but solid blue light. It wouldn't show up to pair with iPhone or iPad. Is the bt500 not compatible?

@Dekaye

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.

I understand that you would like to know if you could use the HP bt500 Bluetooth adapter for Bluetooth printing with your HP Photosmart  A512 printer. Because after you installed it, there is a solid blue light and will not show up while trying to pair with an iPhone or iPad. I'll certainly help you with this case.

I did some research on this and found that the HP bt500 Bluetooth adapter is supported only with the following operating systems: (Source: http://hp.care/2o7jKn4)

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 (Service pack 4)
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home (Service pack 1 and 2)
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Service pack 1 and 2)
  • Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition
  • Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
  • Microsoft Windows 64bit (64bit driver for 64bit X86 chips)
  • Microsoft Windows Vista

Also, when I checked the printer specifications, I see that Bluetooth connectivity works using optional HP Bluetooth wireless printer adapter (Windows XP only). Source: http://hp.care/2o7nrct

I hope this information helps. Keep me posted for any further queries. Cheers! 🙂
