HP 4645 All in One printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have seen this is a genuine problem with HP printers and have tried all the suggested solutions but none work and this is costing a fortune in trying new HP Cartridges. Does anyone have a solution for this error message as there is no where I can see that you can tell the printer to ignore the message. This appears to be the solution, a software patch for the printer

Hey there! @Raycingcar, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand you are getting incompatible ink cartridge error on your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Do you get this error if you remove cartridges from your printer?

Remove the ink cartridges from your printer and place them back one by one and check if you get an error while placing the cartridge back.

If you get the ink cartridge error please replace the faulty ink cartridge.

Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and check if it helps.

Also, try resetting the printer.

Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
   NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot Incompatible cartridge error with your printer.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, please contact HP support for service options.

Let me know how it goes!
