Deskjet 2541

My wife is trying to use this printer with Cricut Design Space, specifically the print to cut feature. Whatever she prints from the Design Space software comes out too small, like the scale didn't translate properly from the software to the printer. Cricut support says it is an issue with printer settings but could not help beyond that. Any ideas? Basically, everything we attempt to print from the Cricut software comes out of the printer at the wrong (too small) scale. Any ideas how to correct this?

Thanks.

CriCut FAQs

From a very first (and preliminary) look at the CriCut help file on the subject, it appears that a Web Browser interface is used to view and then print the project (some form of a "Printable" image).

Each Browser supports some form of Print Preview and / or Properties to set up a print job.

The manner in which the print information is managed differs depending on which browser you are using.

For example, Chrome presents the settings (for a print job) differently than does Firefox.

The printer software plays a part, too.  Printer software differs (to some extent) by printer model, printer vintage (which affects which version of the printer software is available).  In other words, settings might differ for supported paper sizes, allowed media types (kind of paper), tray selection (source), and margins (not all printers support borderless printing).

Possibly relevant, the Dragon document provides some examples of Print Preview / print setup for several browsers.  Included are settings for adjusting Scale (print size), margins, and other relevant features.

Will it help?  Unknown -- it does give you a place to start looking.

You are most welcome.

I suspect the setting you seek (and need to verify / adjust) is the Scale (be sure it is not set to 0 (zero)), or perhaps the print Scale is set to "Shrink to fit" as opposed to a percentage of 100%.  Printer margins can also get in the way of a precise outcome.

If all else fails AND if the webpage can be downloaded onto your computer, there are other ways to ensure that "what you see is what you get".  For example, you could perhaps print a PDF file in Adobe Reader DC and control the print size / setup / output to paper.

Good Luck.

Update: so after spending about an hour with Cricut support, it was determined that A) the printer was NOT the issue and B) Cricut software is Web based and runs differently on different browsers. So FYI for anyone using Cricut Design Space- it works best in Google's Chrome browser. E Explorer makes the print scale too small and Firefox does not print ANYTHING AT ALL from Design Space, print to cut. Once we tried Chrome, everything printed like it was supposed to. Just remember to deselect fit to page. Thanks anyway for the help. Hope someone else finds this useful.

Thanks for posting back that Chrome is the Browser of choice to print for the current CriCut product.

Programs are frequently better at working with some browsers than others.  Program code, Web developer code, and printer code must interact "just so" to get what you expect on paper.
