DeskJet 2545
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The ink cartridge for my DeskJet 2545 ran out, so I went to get a new cartridge. Reading the specifications on the HP packages in the store, I found "2545" listed among the compatible models on the 650 ink cartridge. Having installed the cartridge once I got home,  it was not recognized by the printer. The only issue I can think of, after having done some research, appears to have something to do with the printer being "Ink Advantage" or not? What is this anyway? Is there seriously two versions of the same printer (2545), which each require different cartridges? If so, this needs to be clearly indicated both on the printer and on the cartridge, otherwise I cannot imagine I am the first or last customer to mistakenly get the 650 cartridge over the 301 cartridge. Since I have already opened the package to the core, I doubt the retailer will take it back, so my question is if there is any way to make it work? It clearly fits inside the printer, so I suppose the problem does not have to do with dimensions. An attempt on HP:s side to sell extra cartridges by misleading its customers with ambiguous labelling? I knew I should have gotten a competitor's laser jet instead.

Im a bit confused the two cartridges that you mentioned is not designed for Deskjet 2545, 2545 uses 60/60XL cartridge.

Are you using Deskjet d2545 or Deskjet 2545?

Hi,

I am using DeskJet 2545, i.e. no "D" in the model name. According to the label on the printer, I should be using 301?

HP Recommended

Deskjet 2545 uses 61 cartridge.

HP Deskjet 2545

And upon checking the 301 cartridge is for deskjet 2545 that was from UK. did you bought this printer in US?

If not, you may need to contact HP Support.

Printer's that are bought from other country has a different type of cartridge,  thus you need to bypass this regionalization.

Thanks,

I went back to the retailer, and a helpful employee took back the 650 and let me change to the 301, which appears to work just fine. DeskJet 2545 is not listed on the packaging for 301, while it is indeed listed on 650.
