Hi,

I have an HP deskhet 1000 j110a. Operating system is Windows 7 32 bit. Today I replaced the original cartridges

with a single black cartridge, and I can't print anything ever since, I get the following message:

" Ink Cartridge Missing

--Tri Color

Cartridge listed above seems to be missing..."

That is - The printer won't work with just a single cartridge. I tried reinstalling driver, reseting.. nothig worked.

Could anyone please help me with this?

Thank!

Hi JohnM, thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately, It doesn't quite help the problen I've been having. Because, the problem is not that the cartridge isn't recognized, it is - but the printer says that since ther other cartridge (color ink) is missing (which is correct) it won't work.

That is, the printer won't work if it has just a single cartridge.

Shmockers.

@sharad2021, sorry that you are having a problem with the single cartridge printing.

The printer will need the other cartridge in order to process and continue functioning.

If you have one cartridge in, the print head will not read the cartridges correctly.

Hello Ebogbue.

I understand your Deskjet 1000 is displaying "ink cartridge is missing". Please follow this entire HP document to try and resolve: Ink Cartridge Problem.

Please inform me if this resolves your issue or not.

Look forward to hear from you.

I am having this issue as well. My printer always worked with one cartridge and would go into single cartridge mode with a note displaying on the screen saying that it is in single cartridge mode. Now I keep getting an error saying it will not print without a color cartridge. I don't want to put in a color cartridge as I only print black. I don't understand why it now refuses to go into single cartridge mode. The links above are of no help.

Having the same problem. Always printed fine with just the black cartridge. Now I am, SUDDENLY, getting a message that I can't print without the tri-color cartridge. I am fed-up with HP proprietary crap! If I don't get this resolved today I am replacing the 4 HP devices I have with another brand. It's not worth the aggravation!
