HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3635
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Greetings

I have been trying to install the software and drivers for my new HP DeskJet Ink Advnatge 3635, on my desktop computer with Windows 8, the setup stops displaying this message:

Installation error

Call to DriverPackageInstall returned error 13 for package "C:\ProgramFiles\HP\HP Deskjet 3630 series\DriverStore\Yeti\hpygid17.inf"

The same error with the similar file hpygid16.inf appeared before, but I already solve it

I tried with ther CD, also with the latest software on the online page, and got the same results

Looking forward for the answer, Thanks

Hello, @Alexb10 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I’d like to help with your issue!

Going through your post, I understand that you are getting call to driver package error while installing the Deskjet 3635 printer. Try performing a clean install while temporarily disabling the firewall. This has helped me fix these issues in the past. Here are the steps:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now, temporarily stop the antivirus/firewall programs that are running on your PC.
  • Now click http://hp.care/2fz6P7Z to download and install the software. (Download the basic driver package instead of full-feature drivers)
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Cheers 🙂

Hello DVortex

Thanks for the quick reply, the issue is still there, the same error displayed,

-In the step of printui.exe/s I deleted one entry of HP,( I still have another 4, for diferentes stuff)

-In the step of c:/programdata I deleted everything in the Hewlett Packard folder

-I also disabled the firewall protection and the anitivirus

In the other steps I already have the things done, I repeated the whole process three times, and it didn´t work

Looking forward for your reply

Have a nice day

Thank you for replying with this overwhelming and detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

You might want to try creating a new user account with administrative rights and check if the printer driver installation works then,

Also, try the windows built-in drivers if the above suggestion doesn't work: Click here for details.

Keep me posted,

Hi Riddle Decipher

-Thanks for the answer,  well the user that I have been using for the istallation is the admin user, so, do you still recommend me to create another account and try it?

-I also tried the windows built in drivers method, using the USB Cable, my printer appeared on the HP, with HP DeskJet 3630 Series (HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3635 mine) when I select Next in the last step, during the installation, a message appears "Driver not installed, Data no Valid".

Looking forward for the answer

Hello, @Alexb10

Appreciate your efforts!

Try the steps below to clean up the printer files from the registry and give the registry permissions:

Let’s first take a backup of the registry to avoid any unwanted damage or to revert back to its original settings. Follow the steps blow to create a registry backup and to delete the printer entries.

  • First, uninstall the printer drivers completely by going to – control panel – all programs.
  • Once the drivers are completely uninstalled, restart your computer.
  • Press “Windows logo key” + “R” to get the run pop-up window. Type “regedit” and press ok.
  • To back up the entire registry, click Computer. Click “File”, and then click “Export”. Type a name for the backup file and save the backup copy to the location of your choice.
  • Now, to delete the printer drivers, expand the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE” – “SYSTEM” – “CurrentControlSet” – Scroll down to “Print”.
  • Expand “Environments” – “Windows x64” – “Drivers” – Right-click on any HP Officejet and delete the same. Also, expand “Print processors” under Windows x64 and delete all folders except “winprint”.
  • Minimize “Environments” and expand “Monitors” – Delete all the folders which start with “HP” (Only keep Local port, Microsoft shared.., Standard TCP/IP, USB monitor and WSD port)
  • Minimize “Monitors” and expand “Printers” – Delete all the folders which say “HP Officejet..”
  • Check the fig below for reference.

Now, provide ENUM permissions in the registry. Here are the steps:

  • To give the ENUM permissions, go to registry, expand the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE” – “SYSTEM” – “CurrentControlSet”.
  • Right-click on “ENUM” and select “Permissions”. Now click on “Add”.
  • In the “Enter the object names to select” field type “ADMINISTRATOR” and press ok.
  • Administrator will be added on the “Group or username filed”. Now click “Advanced”. You will get the “Advanced Security Settings for Enum” window. Select the “Permissions” tab.
  • Select the Administrator field – Edit – And select the box next to “Full control”. Press ok. Repeat the exercise for all the type except for “Everyone”.
  • Now select the “Auditing” tab select “Add”. Again add “Administrator” field. Edit and give full permissions.
  • Apply the settings, and exit out of registry.
  • Now click http://hp.care/2fz6P7Z to download and install the software. (Download the basic driver package instead of full-feature drivers)
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Let me know how that goes!

Good luck 🙂
