What a scam, I enrolled in Instant Ink then decided not to use the service.
I no longer have a working printer because I no longer have the Instant ink service.
This is (removed)!
Further, I do not like that the Printer drivers require your lifes history to allow
the installation of these drivers.
HP get your sh*t together!
Off to buy cartridges because HP does not know UI.

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you've had a poor experience witrh instant ink. Cancelling your enrolment shouldn't affect your printers ability to work. You'll be able to use your instnat ink cartridges up until the last day of your billing cycle, after which If you insert store bought cartridges, you'll be able to print again.

As a test engineer, I must say in polite terms that you are mistaken.
As a consumer i say "you are completely wrong!".
If you cancel your Instant Ink subscription, the application pops up
a message, and I paraphrase, "You are not subscribed to Instant Ink and your document
was not printed" "Change your cartridge to enable printing".
Or words to that effect.
As a software designer I must also say, the application worked as designed, but did not
take into account a brand new user canceling their subscription before even using any ink!
As a consumer, I am well aware that the cartridges are not full and that I did not lose all
that much printing. (I'll leave the near empty cartridge SCAM to another diatribe)
There are many issues with all printers and printer companies and I will leave it at that.
If you wish to contact me directly, my address is easily translatable in the prior email.

No, you are most certainly NOT sorry that he had a bad experience with instant ink. You people send cartridges that magically expire at the end of the billing cycle in which the customer cancels the Instant Ink service. This means that ink we have PAID FOR - got that, you morons, PAID FOR - is no longer ours to use because we won't be sending you any more money. That is THEFT. We PAID FOR that ink - don't you get it?

Hi,
The Instant ink service is based on page plans and in that regard, all subscriptions are based on a page plan for which customers receive a set number of pages for a fixed price. Pages outside of the chosen plan encur an overage charge which is outlined in each page plan.
You only pay for the pages used in your plan, not the cartridge or the ink - once you have cancelled your plan, at the end of that billing cycle you can no longer print any pages using the instant ink cartridge, unless you decide to re-enrol. You are free to purchase a store bought cartridges and continue to print.

Thank you for confirming the nature of HP's theft.
"You only pay for the pages used in your plan." OK, so you are saying that I am paying to print X number of pages.
"Once you have cancelled your plan, at the end of that billing cycle you can no longer print any page." THEFT, SIR. I have paid to print X number of pages. Yet now you tell me that unless I keep paying, I will not be allowed to print those pages for which I have already paid.
Again, thank you for confirming that HP is a bunch of thieves.

To clarify further - After cacellation, right up until the last day of your billing cycle, you are able to print.
After your billing cycle date (the date on which you signed up) has passed, because you have cancelled your account, you will no longer be able to print the following month (becuase you chose to cancel).
For example, if you sign up on on the first day of Month 1 and cancel in month 5 (any date in month 5), you pay for months 1-5 (you can print throughout month 5) and are not able to print using the instant ink cartridges in month 6.
If for example you are a 50 page plan and you cancel on the first day of your billing cycle, you have until the next billing cycle date (a full month) to use up your 50 pages for which you will be billed the following month. You will be unable to print the following month because you have cancelled your account.

Thank you again for confirming the nature of HP's fraud.
"You can print 50 pages."
"You can eat the entire dessert."
I paid for the pages. I paid for the dessert. To deny me my pages, or my dessert, just because I decline to pay you any more money, is extortion and fraud.

Me too!!! I HATE the "instant ink" plan. It is a total SCAM!! They locked me out of my printer even though there is still PLENTY of ink there to print many many more pages. But even thought I OWN the printer, I CAN NOT print until I go out to the store and purchase another ink cartridge THAT I DO NOT NEED, and install it.
INSTANT INK is a SCAM, and I'm VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED in HP. I bought HP because I thought they were the best. Never again after this sham.
