I can hear my printer's internal wireless NIC/modem or fax modem. Sound is very faint and pretty much constant. Sound is similar (or identical) to telephone modem.  I suspect an aberrant  chip or other component is "singing."

Really irritating.

The sound is present whether wired or wireless. Fax settings are all off, especially fax Volume. No phone line connected.  Printer is registered for InstantInk.

No, I am not willing to turn the printer off when I'm not using it; the printer is shared throughout my home.

Please send clues, modifications, hacks, tweeks, or recall notices.

Thanks very much!

HP Support Manila tells me the power supply is NOT replaceable. Instead, they recommend a new printer. No surprises there, eh?!

A search in the forum turned up a number of similar cases.  It seems the likely cause is the power supply, a replacement supply generally resolves the issue. See the post here for example.  I suggest you contact HP for a replacement power supply.

From a post by Sunshyn2005, to contact HP Support see the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number

Case number and phone number appear.
