I have iPad iOS running 7.0.3 and office jet 8500 a910 firmware lrp1fn123ar. AirPrint was working ok up until about a month ago, but now is not. When I print from an app such as mail, iPad comes up with "printer low on ink" message, followed by"check printer for errors" message. Printer screen comes up with "paper mismatch, paper size or type is incorrect". Printer is not low on ink and prints ok wirelessly from my hp portable. Have followed hp and apple reset guidelines for router, printer etc but still the same error every time. I also installed hp sprint app and same error also comes up.

Hi Rowlinson,

Thank you for the quick response.

You are correct, AirPrint doesn't have an option to change the paper size so the when the print job is sent to the printer using AirPrint it is look for paper the size the document requests. I suspect that the printer is looking for US Letter size of 8½ " x 11".  If you want to be able to change the paper size you could try using HP's ePrint app.  I have included a document with HP ePrint Mobile App FAQ's as well as a document about getting started with ePrint.

For the invalid low ink message I have included a link to a document specific to that message when the ink is not low.

Hi Rowlinson,

I'm sorry to hear you have been having problems printing to your Officejet 8500A from your iPad.

I have included a document with trouble shooting steps when your document doesn't print when using AirPrint. I'm sure you have already completed some of the steps listed but please let me know at what point you get an error message and if they differ any from the messages you have already posted.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I tried everything as per the hp website link you sent. Whilst doing the tests I noticed that I could print from the iPad photo app on standard a4 paper [i still got a low on ink message! but it printed ok). I still however cannot print from email or other apps. I still get the low on ink error on the iPad and the paper mismatch error on the printer. It is almost like something is set on the iPad to print on photo size paper, so when I try to print standard a4 it gets confused. I can't see any settings for airprint on the iPad. I have reset the iPad via settings /general option and have reset the network options on the printer and rejoined my wifi ok, printing ok still from my laptop.

Thanks very much, the hp eprint solution works. I can now print on email via sending my email to the hpeprint.com email address and can print attachments and PDFs etc via the mobile hpeprint app.
