I need to connect a LaserJet 4050N network printer to a wireless network without running a ethernet cable from the router to the printer, what device would I need to use in order to connect the printer to the wireless network?

Thanks

What you need is a wireless bridge.  Linksys has a couple of models (see link here) as do other manufacturers.

So I buy one of these, hook it up via the ethernet port to a non-connected PC to configure the settings, unplug it from the PC, then connect it to the printer and the printer should be found on the network?

Yes -- that's the idea.  I've used them in the past to network a desktop and my son's XBOX-360.  From the printer's point of view, it thinks it's connected to the wired LAN network.

Could you link me to some other manufacturers' bridges or others that you would suggest.

Thanks

Currently, the printer is connected using an adapter to transfer connectivity from either parallel or serial to USB, would I be able to use this HP print server using that adapter to USB connection?

Or does the devices compatibility hamper my ability to do so?

Thank you for any help

I didn't see any Laserjets on the compatibility list here. Therefore, I'm not sure our wireless adaptor will work for you.

If you already have a wireless-network, you might just look for a media-bridge or a wireless-bridge to connect the Laserjet to the network.

That's what I was worried about, I'm going to have to talk him into a bridge then, are they all $80+?
