Hi guys.  I have an old but still working great LaserJet 9000, but today when we tried to print to it, it went into Warming Up stage and has been sitting there for at least 15 minutes.  Only thing it appears to be doing is spinning the rollers that shoot the printouts out.  Any ideas what might be causing this or how to fix it?  It ended up snapping out of it eventually, but to have to wait somewhere between 15-30 minutes is not good.

Generally the issue is the fuser itself has issues reaching the correct temp. If that is not the issue then the power supply or dc controller on the printer may have an issue. Have seen all three items be the cause for this behavior.

Hi ,

If the printer stucks to the message "Warming up" during booting , I would suggest you to check by printing engine test page that will confirm if the printer engine is working fine except the formatter .

Use a pencil or bent paper clip to push the engine test button in.

Engine test switch is Located right side of the printer next to tray 1 shown below :

engine test location

if engine test page comes fine , then Formatter and its component could be suspected . if the engine test page does not print , issue could be related to DC controller . It is Also observed that Formatter sometimes  interrupts during Engine test page .Therefore Hp Technician can be consulted to test engine test page without formatter and diagonose further .

Warm up message is a common issue on this series and is never I repeat never caused by the formatter. I have worked on over 100 of these and the issue is generally the fuser but at times it is the dc controller or power supply. Engine test will never work if the fuser has not reached the correct temperature. All 3 items, fuser, dc controller and power supply are the only items responsible for the fuser reaching the correct temp. Formatter has nothing to do with the engine warmup and only relays the message from the dc controller to the printer display.

fuser assembly dc controller or LVPS
