Hi everyone

I got a HP LaserJet CP2025dn printer which is about a year and a half old and still has around 50% of toner left. It's been disposed by my workplace as it suffers a problem: it feeds paper fine, prints on it and just when it's almost finished ejecting the page to the output bin, it stops about 5cms away and throws a "paper jam in print path" error.

A solution is to remove the page manually, open and close the back-plate of the printer.

To make it easier to explain, I've recored a video which demonstrates the issue (+ attached pictures):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn2bWpoZOS8 (issue occurs at 00:55)

Please also note that after intializing, the printer makes a clicking noise about 5 times. I have no idea what it is but I've read on the internet it's ok.

Now, my question is, does it sound/look like a fixable issue? I woundn't mind buying a replacement part or something like that. I could try checking for pieces of paper inside but I don't want to remove any screws or anything. Unfortunately, the printer is out of warranty by about 5-6 months.

I hope to hear soon from you guys

Thanks

Edit: Just troubleshooted it a bit more, attached are 2 photos that show the exact location of the page inside the printer as the printing stops. It appears that it stops right after passing a sensor. Am I right?

Come on, does noone have a clue? Really?

I just wanted to add that I've been swapping all 4 sensors that I discovered. That it:

- aroung the fuser, another one near the output bin, front door open sensor and output bin full sensor.

The issue persists. Are there more sensors in the printer?

If someone could let me know where they're located that would be great.

First thing I would do is swap out the fuser.  Changing sensors is not a good idea since you are also dealing with flags that activate those sensors.  Sometimes the flags could not be working or missing or broken.

I wouldn't mind doing that but I have no access to other fusers/faulty CP2025s so I can't do that.

Is it likely that the issue is the fuser? It would make sense as printing stops just right after the sensor there (in attached pictures). Leaving the sensor unconnected seemed to cause no change on behaviour which might mean the sensor is not being used by the fuser/faulty pcb?

I tested all 4 sensors by installing them at the front door open place. This way I opened the door and checked if the printer reacted.

Is there a way to use the diagnostic page in looking for issues?

Edit: Is it worth buying the same model off ebay ~ £50 (working or not) and assemblying the parts into a working one?

Okay, so I bought another printer from ebay for £30 and it was working but no duplex so now I've spent 7 hours carefully moving over the duplexing stuff to the new printer and yes, it works but only from tray 2. Printing from tray 1 causes the printer to jam in tray 2! Why? It also picks up a sheet of paper at startup and the silences and ejects it. It wasn't doing that before I installed the duplex unit. I worry I might have moved some gear or something. I almost have a fully working printer.

Any suggestions as of what could be causing the issue?

I installed both formatters and the had the same problem :smileysad:

Edit: Sounds like this issue /t5/Printers-LaserJet/laser-jet-cp2025/td-p/2311946

I had the same problem and here is how I fixed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the top where the paper comes out, look and see 3 flaps.  2 big flaps at each end and a smaller flap in the middle.  Are all 3 flaps pointing down??? Can you lift them up a little and they fall back down???

One of my flaps was stuck in the up position so I took the top cover off (3 screws on the back) and looked at the flap.  It have just gotten wedged in the wrong position so I popped it back into place.  It then pointed down like the other flaps.  You can raise the flaps up, but they should fall back down when you release them.

Well now my printer works again.  Let me know if that fixes your problem too.

I had this exact problem as well, I can confirm that this method fixed the issue.

I had this exact problem and this method helped solve it. Amazing! Here's a handy site that also helped me to get the cover off - it involved a couple more steps as I had the duplex capable version of this printer:

Thanks for your super helpful post!

Cheers,
