If the error is not caused by a print job then your first effort would be to update the firmware on the printer.
If a firmware update does not resolve the issue then the problem could be a defective formatter.

Go to the support page for your machine on hp.com and look for software and Driver updates and you should be able to find a firmware update if there is one.
If you have a defective formatter and the machine is in warranty you let HP take care of it if not you have to replace it.
